Amorality, Evolution and Abortion

In the book "Mind Siege" by Tim LaHaye and David Noebel, there is a good discussion about the low morals of today and abortion. Most of the following is from that book.

During our lifetime the "new morality" has overturned centuries of moral values and created a virtually new lifestyle for millions of people, particularly for those under thirty. This is not to say that preceding generations were moral purists. Today's generation is amoral - without a conscience and denying a Bible-based morality.

In past generations only animals, prostitutes, and moral degenerates could "sleep around," "bed hop," or practice "free love" without feeling guilty about it. But the new morality, spawned in the minds of God-rejecting secularists, is presented as science.

A human being whose conscience has been killed is amoral. Consequently, he is capable of performing like the animal he considers himself to be. It is no trouble for him to be inhumane if inhumanity is thought to be an evolutionary advance. Does that sound like an exaggeration? If so, you have forgotten that the doctors and psychiatrists of the Third Reich advocated and practiced euthanasia (the killing of those considered unfit to live) before Hitler made it state policy. The Nazis could easily practice genocide against the Jews because by 1940 they had already made a practice of eliminating the weak, old, and unwanted.

Not a modern enough illustration for you? Then consider abortion. Nothing shows the amoral influence of humanism like the 1973 decision of the United States Supreme Court to legalize abortion. How could the majority of that august body come to such a low estimation of human life? How could they decide that the unborn is a non-person? How could any group of humane individuals decide that the answer to a terrible social problem was to slaughter the most innocent and defenseless?

Humanist medical opinion led these judges to make their decision. As Dr. C. Everett Koop noted, "I find it hard to understand why biologists have no trouble recognizing life in worms, frogs, rats, and rabbits, but medical doctors have a difficult time determining when life begins in the highest form of life - human beings." The truth is, these so-called men of science have no problems determining when life begins; they know. But they have a low view of life itself, for they have been taught that life is an accident (evolution).

Since 1973, tens of millions of abortions have been performed in America - and the number increases by nearly four thousand each day. At this rate we will soon have to apologize to Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin. Margaret Sanger and her Planned Parenthood supporters have already shed more blood than Hitler, and they are fast approaching Stalin. And remember - all this bloodshed is done under the guise of science and eugenics, or, in Sanger’s case, to get rid of what she considered the "weeds" of society.

Those who favor abortion-on-demand are not necessarily humanists, but they certainly have been influenced by the view that man is merely an evolving animal. The Bible, by contrast, sets a premium on human life; that is why God gave His only Son for mankind. Jesus told us that human life was worth more than the whole world (Matthew 16:26). Therefore, anyone who favors abortion opposes a Biblical view of life and instead favors the views of humanism.

The big lie is that sexual promiscuity or any form of amorality leads to happiness. While it is true that self-gratification may lead to immediate pleasure, invariably it sacrifices the permanent (morals and health) on the altar of the immediate (pleasure and disease). Greece, Rome, and eighteenth-century France were sexually free, but they destroyed their own culture by their sin. Ask the 56 million Americans who are infected with a sexually transmitted disease if that disease brings them pleasure or fun. Individually as well as nationally, fleshly self-indulgence breeds misery and death.
