Lately, the supermarket tabloids have been focusing on the prophecies of the future, and the fight between good and evil. It's impressive how interested the average citizen is in what's going to happen in the future, but the tragedy is that the world ignores the amazing prophecies of Ezekiel, and instead plays up to people like Nostradamus. Nostradamus' predictions are at best nebulous, and capable of many interpretations, while Ezekiel's are cut, dry and proven. Most of the following I got from a recent Hal Lindsey broadcast.
Ezekiel chapters 35 to 39 contain a series of prophecies that were foretold 2600 years ago. They are basically fitted together into one prophecy, and are astounding. Chapter 35 tells of the enemies of Israel. Chapter 36 tells of the desolation of the land and how it will be reborn. Chapter 37 tells of the miracle of people dismembered, sent all over the world and brought back again to become a nation. Chapter 38 tells of a great enemy from the extreme north and a confederation of Muslims (Persia). God will use this confederation to bring Israel to utter despair, so they will finally turn to their true Messiah - Jesus Christ.
Chapters 35 to 39 as seen from Ezekiel's perspective in the 7th century B.C. are, truly amazing. Here are just ten of the events this great prophet saw.
1. Israelites driven from their land for a very long period of time.
2. But the Israelites will survive as a distinct people.
3. Their land would be confiscated by surrounding nations.
4. Nations descended from Ishmael and Esau will be known as Arabs.
5. These people will have a perpetual hatred for the Israelites.
6. The land of Israel would become an utter desolation, and not respond to the agricultural efforts of the usurpers.
7. Against all odds the Israelites will return, and again become a nation again.
8. The land would miraculously respond to them and flourish.
9. The Arab nations would conduct an unending war against the Israelites.
10. Israel would survive all assaults, and prosper.
Does all this sound familiar? Have you read all this before in history? Remember Ezekiel made these predictions 2600 years ago.
He made another series of predictions that are still in our future. All the above will finally provoke an assault by Russia and a Muslim led confederation of all the surrounding nations. When will this happen? Ezekiel carefully pinpoints the time. "After many days you shall be mustered; in the latter years you shall go against a land restored from war, a land where people were gathered from many nations on the mountains of Israel, which had long laid waste; its people were brought out from the nations and now are living in safety, all of them. You shall advance, coming on like a storm; you shall be like a cloud covering the land, you and all your troops, and many peoples with you." (Ezekiel 38:8,9)
Note, when Ezekiel made these predictions, Israel had not been scattered among nations - people had not been brought back to the land from a very long world wide dispersion - Israel by no means was restored to the land to dwell securely - it was not the last days.
The next time you get the urge to read the predictions of Nostradamus and all these non-Biblical so-called prophets, pick up the Bible and read the works of the real prophets, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Moses, Daniel, etc. And of course, the Son of God Himself, Jesus Christ.
