As a continuation of our last commentary on Hussein, Haman and the Nazi's, the Hebrew feast of Purim was started around 2500 years ago to celebrate the saving of the Jewish people from annihilation in Persia. The commentary also mentioned that those who seek to destroy Israel end up being destroyed instead. And usually they are destroyed by the same weapons that they sought to use in destroying Israel.
The living proof of this is Israel itself. It’s still here, and it’s a major force despite a few thousands of years of wars and persecutions. Meanwhile, Israel’s enemies, Moab, Edom, Ammon, Assyria, Phillistia, Babylon, Persia, the Nazi's etc, are either long gone, or weakened to the point they no longer pose a threat.
You have to understand this: The moment Israel is involved in a war, it becomes a spiritual or prophetic war. It is not a natural war. When you fight Israel, you fight God. On the other hand, when you side with Israel, you side with God. As in Genesis 12:3 "I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse." Perhaps this is a reason the United States has been so blessed. We have stuck by and protected Israel for many years. I believe the U.S.A. was ordained many years ago to protect Israel, and that the English-language spelling of God’s city Jer USA lem is no coincidence.
I saw on a TV show that Hussein wrote a book in 1977 called Onser Kamph, which is a likeness to Hitler’s Mein Kamph. And as people ignored Hitler’s hateful diatribe in the 1930's, when he outlined his ideas on destruction, and domination, we also ignored the 3 goals of Hussein’s book:
1. To have the Moslems find their way to unity through international tension.
2. To separate the United States from Europe.
3. To destroy the Jews.
It seems like two parts of his plan may be working, but the Jews will never be destroyed, not by any one or by any group of countries.
I believe the aftermath of this Iraqi war will lead into the Gog and Magog war, and possibly a lot sooner than some people might think. Read Ezekiel, chapters 38 and 39. You will notice two things:
1. That prophecy says that the lands known in Biblical times as Meshech, Tubal, Persia, Ethiopia, Put, etc., will march with Gog, which many believe is Russia, to try to wipe out Israel. Most of the areas mentioned in Ezekiel correspond to modern-day Moslem countries. And there is a strong, vocal contingent of people within these countries who have clearly expressed their hatred for Israel, as well as their desire to eliminate Israel. Ezekiel, however, says that in this war with Gog and Magog, God will intervene, again, and destroy 85 percent of the invading army (Ezekiel 39:1-2).
2. Also, you will notice that this prophecy doesn’t seem to include any mention of any land that corresponds to the United States. And that raises an important question: Why not? We do know that much of the Moslem world is inflamed by the presence of Americans on their soil. Are they inflamed enough to weaken America through terrorism? Does this prophecy indicate that the U.S. will no longer be a super power when the war of Gog and Magog take place? Or does the United States decide at some point in the future to drop out of the international scene, and just let Europe, Asia and Africa duke it out, without us.
We all have to pray now harder than ever. Pray constantly for the protection of our families, the United States, and Israel, and the nations that oppose Israel, and let God take care of the situation. One final interesting fact: President Bush stood firm on this Iraqi war, through a lot of opposition. Knowing that Saddam Hussein desired the destruction of Israel, did God perhaps guide Bush, with or without Bush’s knowledge, to get involved in a war with Iraq to save Israel? Consider this: when God talked to Moses to save His people from destruction in Egypt, how did He do so? He talked to Moses through a bush.
